Work begins on the Dublin Mountains Makeover – UPDATED

UPDATED: 26.6.2020
If you’re visiting Ballyedmonduff forest over the next few weeks, look out for Phase 1 of our forest transformation.

Works are beginning on the Dublin Mountains Makeover – a forest transformation project that’s putting people and nature first in the nine most popular Dublin Mountains forests.

What can I expect to see?

From Monday 29th June for approximately 3 weeks, harvesting machines will be working to thin out a mature Sitka spruce forest in Ballyedmonduff and manage it under Continuous Cover Forestry principles.

The ‘Blazin Saddles’ and ‘Afterburner’ Sections of Ticknock Mountain Bike trail will be closed on weekdays from June 29th for the duration of harvesting.

The Dublin Mountains Way will remain open, traffic management measures will be in place.

Please abide by safety signage. For more information on CCF in Ballyedmonduff, see this PDF of the signs we have in place on-site.
